Passiflora Incarnata-flower picture

Passiflora incarnata has many other common names like American Maypop, Passion Flower, Water lemon.

Passion flower species have evolved a wide variety of stunning colorful flowers, often perfumed, with additional sweet nectar glands on leaves, petioles and sometimes bracts. They use their tendrils to climb up tree; only a very few have adapted becoming trees themselves.
The passiflora is a wonderful home decorating plants too, as you can see in the photo.

The passion flower is used in several parts of the world as a traditional medicine for the management of anxiety, restlessness, insomnia, epilepsy and morphine addiction.
