Rose chafer-Cetonia Aurata on white tulip-macro photography

I took these tulip photos on a beautiful sunny weather, the favorite time for rose chafers to show up. They are feeding on the petals of the tulip.
The Rose Chafer, Cetonia Aurata, is a beautiful, shiny, emerald green, and quite large beetle.

They are very beautifully colored insects and look like jewels with their metallic green and coppery back, shining in the sunlight. See that pattern (above) formed by the ragged white marks running width ways across the wing.

For some reason they only like white and light colored tulips; there was not one rose chafer on tulips of darker colors.

Maia I've never seen a little critter like that before in my scottish garden. He sure has some unusual colouring. Its great to have found your blogs and I look forward to sharing more photos with you in the future. Rosie

How strange that they like only the white flowers. Maybe they like showing off their coloring.

Very beautiful beetles but I prefer my roses without them.

Now, he's gorgeous, isn't he? I would gladly sacrifice some tulip petals if he would visit me!

They are beautiful! I never knew about them before but I wonder if that's what we had around a lot when I was a kid. We had a lot of roses and had many green beetles but I never thought about the two belonging together. Beautiful images!
